A Closer Look at this Previously Featured Amish Recipe

Raisin Crumb Pie

1/2 cup raisins

2 cups water

1 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon vinegar

2 tablespoons cornstarch

pinch of salt

unbaked pie crust

Place all ingredients in a saucepan except for the cornstarch.  Bring to a boil, add the cornstarch to thicken.  Cool.  Pour into unbaked pie shell

Crumbs:

1 cup flour

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup shortening

1/2 teaspoon soda

Mix and put on top of raisin filling.  Bake at 375o until shell is firm.
